The Steps To Perfecting Your Smile With Veneers And Ceramic Crowns

Thank you for considering us for your cosmetic dentistry! We take great pride in providing our patients with the very best results and you do not have to travel to Boston, New York City or Beverly Hills to have the smile you always wanted!

While the media and marketing will demonstrate beautiful cases from these upscale markets, the training and processes are the same. The makeover programs showing the cosmetic dental component are a tad misleading in regards to the amount of planning and actual treatment involved to achieve those beautiful smiles. The purpose of this article is to give you an introduction and general understanding of the steps involved to perfecting your smile. An attempt has been made to minimize the details of the information, to allow for an in depth understanding of the material given.

Prior to starting any treatment involving your front teeth we begin with:

Patient Doctor Interview - This is a 2 way interview. We simply talk about you, medical and dental history, what you desire and how you hope
to achieve what you are looking for. I can give you a tentative treatment plan on what can be accomplished. This will ultimately depend on the next step.

Comprehensive Oral Evaluation - This may be the most detailed dental exam you will ever experience! The purpose of this exam is to determine
the overall health of you and everything associated with chewing your food. This includes your jaw joint, the muscles of your face, head, neck and shoulders, teeth and gums. This is called the stomatognathic system.

If there is any pain associated with this system, this will have to addressed prior to making the significant financial investment. Your upper and lower front teeth have a very important purpose, to protect your jaw joint, muscles, the rest of your teeth, to aid in proper phonetics and ultimately the first display of a pleasant demeanor that builds positive interpersonal relationships. We can accomplish all of these items in addition to improving your overall health!

Once we complete our comprehensive oral evaluation, a finalized treatment plan is completed and proceed to making financial arrangements.

We like to reserve 2-3 appointments for the comprehensive oral evaluation. This is time we begin a journey to your self-discovery, the more we can learn about you from the beginning the more successful results we can achieve together.

That is my personal guarantee.

Financial Arrangements - The cost of treatment and terms of our contract are discussed and finalized. Cost ranges per arch for a full cosmetic rehabilitation will range from $8,000 - $12,000 per arch or $16,000 - $24,000 per mouth.

This cost depends upon the number of teeth showing in your smile, the condition of your teeth (whether they require additional treatment) and the condition of your gums supporting the teeth. We like to be up front with the potential costs and avoid any surprises. This step ultimately determines how much you want to stop covering your mouth and have what you truly deserve!

Treatment - During the comprehensive oral evaluation we obtain
detailed records of your head, neck, shoulders, face and mouth. Two components of these records are Study Models and Digital Photographs. One purpose of the study models is to mock up your new smile in wax.

We also do a digital mock-up with the photograph. We use these mockups to visualize the end result prior to starting any treatment. A template is then fabricated from the wax mock-up. The template is used to make your transitional veneers and/or ceramic crowns.

The sequence is as follows:

1st Appointment

  • Anesthesia localized to the areas of treatment
  • *Re-contouring of gums (if necessary)
  • Preparation of teeth
  • Fabrication of transitional crowns and/or veneers

2nd Appointment

  • Your approval or disapproval of transitional restorations
  • Final impression pending approval

3rd Appointment

  • Try-in and permanent cement of ceramic crowns and/or veneers

4th Appointment

  • Quality assurance and quality control check
  • Final re-contouring, adjustment, polish and final photos

*Note: If the gums need to be re-contoured this will ad up to 8 weeks for
the gums to heal prior to taking the final impression.
